New Autumn 2008 Anime / Review of Summer & Spring Anime

(for your info, I did post something yesterday and mentioned that I am having a massive re-sorting the photos at Facebook. On top of that, I am also cleaning up my room and in the middle of vectoring.)

For a list of the names of the Autumn anime and links to their official website (excluding OVAs), you can refer to here for the English names, or here for the original Japanese names. Some of the anime that are due next year (2009) on top of the Autumn 2008 ones can be found in the "アニメ新番組" or "New Anime" section.

There are no anime carried over from the previous seasons for Autumn 2008, but there are returning anime like "Rosario and Vampire", "Clannad" "ef - a tale of ----." "Nodame Cantabile", "Shougo Chara!" "Jigoku Shoujo", "Vampire Knight", "Mobile Suit Gundam 00" and "Junjo Romantica".

Compared to the earlier Summer 2008 or Spring 2008 ones, there are a lot of interesting anime to watch since Winter 2008 or even Autumn 2007! This years spring and summer saw a lot of anime being dropped or not even watched but the following are the ones I watched to the end:
  • Birdy the Mighty Decode (鉄腕バーディDECODE)
  • The Secret in Haruka Nogizaka (乃木坂春香の秘密)
  • To Love-Ru (To LOVEる~とらぶる~)
  • The Tower of Druaga ~the Aegis of URUK~ (ドルアガの塔)
  • Library War (図書館戦争)
  • Code Geass: Leouch of the Rebellion R2 (コードギアス 反逆のルルーシュR2)
You might have also noticed in the above links that some of those that I had listed as "Not Likely to Watch" there and "Will Watch" not there. Here are some of the reasons for why I had dropped:
  • Sekirei (セキレイ) - Ugly character design and too much "fanservice"
  • Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto: Natsu no Sora (魔法使いに大切なこと~夏のソラ~) - Despite having one of the nicest design of the places, it has a boring storyline that it actually made me sleep.
  • Strike Witches (ストらイックーウィチーズ) - Their dress code. Need I say more?
  • kure-nai (紅) - Despite people saying that the anime is nice, I fell asleep watching it and can't stand the character design of some of the main characters.
  • Kanokon (かのこん) - The most extreme end of "fanservice" I have ever watched.
  • Kamen no Maid Guy (仮面のメイドガイ) - What I expected to see and what I got are completely different. The plot also seem to be getting nowhere.
  • Wagaya no Oinarisama. (我が家のおなり様。) - Fell asleep watching.
  • Kyouran Kazoku Nikki (狂乱家族日記) - Character design: Look at their noses! (One of the main characters reminds me of the main character of "Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu")
  • Persona -trinity soul- (ペルソナ~トリニティ・ソル~) - I finally realised the lack of progress by episode 15.
  • Special A (スペシャル・エー) - I don't know why: maybe it's the voices, or maybe the character design, storyline, or the fact that it would have looked better in HD but there is no such thing other than upscalled ones. In any case, I dropped mid-way.
  • Vampire Knight (ヴァンパイア騎士) - Well, it did keep me entertained for 3/4 of it, but I couldn't follow the last few.
  • Rosario + Vampire (ロザリオとバンパイア) - Demons everywhere. Character design was somewhat smillar to "Tokimeki Memorial" in 2006. Didn't like the colours used as they looked discoloured. (Green Skys? Red Lake? Green and brown for the uniform?)
I would like to review the earlier ones, including Winter 2008 (January) too, but except for the 2 mentioned above (Persona, Rosario), I can't seem to find reviews about them or at least a list of anime that were scheduled then.
