As I'm typing this I'm watching K-On! episode 6. Between 4am and 11pm earlier, I have written reviews of episode 2 and 3. I know it's overdue by 3-4 weeks as I had done that of episode 1 shortly after it came out. I have yet to cover episode 4 onwards. Since episode 2 review came out so late, screenshots of the widescreen version were used instead of the letterbox version that came out 23 days earlier. Ah, the haunted house in this episode. I remember during the festival at my school: walking around in a dark, unfamiliar area with minimal lighting. There would also be people trying to scare me. But with no thanks to me being able to see well in the dark and the sense of knowing people are approaching me is not really scary. Need to blindfolded and be dragged there to be more effective. As for the food.... it's questionable. How well I can see in the dark? Well, take any digital camera with the default settings and point to any scene at night and what I see captured on

372nd post: 16:9 versions of my vectors

Image
Well, these 1280*720 versions of my vectors has been up at the same place as the regular version for quite a while, but did not mention anything about it. In fact, they are not displayed anywhere else, except for a particular blog hosted outside Blogger that I have yet to figure out how to use. Another reason for not displaying is that some just doesn't look right or take too much of my time that I'm better off doing something else. To view them, just add "widescreen/" in the URL just before the file name, but it only works on sfgdhjyfmjh, v0001-v0007, v0011-v0038, v0016a, v0030a, and v0051. How I extended the image depends on the background. For the above ( v0003 ), I used my interpretation on extending the railings and the ceiling. The clouds in the original area are left untouched and are extended/duplicated in the new areas. Another example are these two ( v0014 & v0017 ). Making 16:9 versions is relatively easy as the background is plain or are already in la

370th post: old tv fried

I was patiently waiting for "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" on TBS by watching some golf tournament that came before it on the old 29" CRT TV bought in 1997 stored somewhere in the forgotten corner of the house out of randomness. It was replaced by a newer 32" LCD widescreen TV in 2007/8 when it was obvious that the older TV was breaking down. Guess what? Just before the golf tournament ends, there were weird noises from inside before a smell similar to the time I (somehow) inserted the RAM on a 2005 motherboard wrongly and turning it on. Upon hearing that, I quickly unplugged the TV from the socket. The smell, that was not new to me, lingered the room and the surrounding area through the doors and windows. At that time, my laptop is connected to it via 3mm to RCA jack cable for audio and S-Video to see if months of non-usage made any difference. Good thing that it's grounded, because the TV is not grounded and can still sense electrical static inside. Knowin

Influenza A(H1N1)

Image
[edited 1:19am: typo] (formerly called Mexican/Swine flu) Everywhere I go in recent days, I keep hearing about this: Forums, message boards, news, spam mail, Twitter, Facebook, podcasts, etc. from all over the world. It's like, it's impossible to not hear about it. I don't want it to become like the H5N1 virus Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome back in 2003 with so much protective measures (and hospitals at red or black alert), but through the medium mentioned earlier, they only amplify as to how serious it is. *sigh* There's little progress with the 4th story or translating 3rd story. Have more important things to do, writer's block, and days seem to zoom by. Either time seem to fly by faster as I get older, or the things I do made it seem faster.

I'm in the middle of coming up with ideas for the 4th story. I could come up with ideas as I write along, but that could lead to drifting off from my original intention and could result in monotonous parts. Translating my stories from English to Japanese (and vice-versa) is not easy: I would need to reconstruct the entire paragraph that uses different words, but mean the same thing. Also, taking into consideration of what readers might already know. Sentences are added to describe to the readers on what is going on but those might be removed in another language version because it would be common sense to them. An example would be that the school year in Japan starts in April, but other countries might be in January or September. Looking at how many parts I had already written, the average number of words for each part, it's not likely that I would translate everything by myself. Add that to the list of things to do and, erm, let's just say it's long and not get paid for

( Newest post before this ) I went to an electronics store and the supermarket yesterday with dad yesterday evening (Everyone else were working or studying). The crowd there was unbelievably crowded! Even the cashier had very long queues. I don't see what's the occasion... At the electronics store, I saw interesting stuff. I'm not really up-to-date in this kind of things, but there were a lot of stuff that would have been sold at a higher price not too long ago. There were a large range of LCD/Plasma widescreen TVs, DVD Player/Recorder (some even had HDD or VCR (!) built-in), mobile phones and whatnot. Spotted some Blu-ray players too. Dad was impressed by the TV that was playing a movie trailer at 1080p. There are game consoles (Xbox360, Wii, PS3, DS) there, but did not have interesting titles or were for consoles that I don't have. The Xbox360 is a good console, but I have been hearing a lot of it having hardware issues quite frequently. Also, I understand region loc

Losing Identity (Part 15)

Image
Morning had arrived. I found myself on the bed of a room that is not mine, but then I remembered that I was visiting my dad's university friend regarding his son's passing away. I was shocked to learn that his son had entered me and that it's also possible that I could be him before the merger and now think and behave very much like me, Haruna, right now. It's hard to tell, because I have mixed memories and knowledge of both. It kind of conflicts if I want know what I was doing prior to the merger, on top of the knowledge that my memory of another childhood friend with me (Saeko/Itsuki) was modified when he turned into a girl. I don't know what to believe now: I don't even trust my own memory... After taking a bath, I headed to the dining table for breakfast where everyone is. I don't know what he prepared, but it's certainly better than what I can prepare myself with. Saeko seems to be in a hurry with something. Everyone else seem to noticed this too.
