Disorientated Feelings (Part 51)

Image
It been a week since my son entered middle school, and it seems that he has already made some friends, which is surprising to me as he didn't have any before. What I'm even more worried is if he could cope as he's only seven years old, though him having friends kind of reduces my fear by a little bit. He never had any friends back in first year primary school or kindergarten, but yet could get friends in middle school first year like it's easy. Maybe I'm just too worried, but my son is my first child to be in middle school. My son chose not to stay at the dorms there, except when there's something up that he stays late there, or be early for the following morning. My daughters told me that he sometimes bring his friends along, sometimes long enough to meet Saeko or my husband, but they are gone by the time I reach home. Like my husband these days, I never saw my son changing out of that Mizuho uniform (though, for middle school this time). He doesn't eve

624th post: September 2012 update to my blog stories

Image
So much has happened since the last update that I have to split into multiple sections to make things clearer. Story 1 (An Original Story By Me)  3 years since publishing Part 15 as the original ending, I did feel that the ending did see kind of abrupt. After watching the 2011 K-On! movie (which came out on Blu-Ray in mid-2012), I felt that I needed to insert something that is to do with graduation and yet feel the impact of it. All the newer stories I had written would not fit it well either because it's too early in the story's timeline to put that in, or the graduation idea was already used, which wasn't as impaction as what I am planning here. This story fits with that idea well, but the problem is that, with a 3 year gap between Part 15 and Part 16 , my memories about the characters and setting might have become rusty. Story 2 (Alternate Dimension)   I mentioned something about "affecting the entire population" (everyone) being turned into schoolgir

Alternate Dimension (Part 87)

(Edited: 7 Jan 2013) It's been weeks since I was sent to the ski lodge to collect the mysterious doll and collect samples from the skiing lodge near there. It is indeed the exact same doll Hatsuya had that went missing decades ago, but, in terms of the condition, the doll seems a bit newer and not a fake. Is this another copy of it, or from earlier in the past than the one we had? We now have the technology to analyse what this thing is made of, but it can't sense any magical presence. The mysterious doll is now in the hands of the Powell Research. The doll was never in Hatsuya's hands (unless you count myself) as it turns out that they were only interested with the ski lodge near where the doll was found and already have existing data about the doll in question. Powell doesn't seem to be interested about it as they mention it as the only man-made shelter in the area from the blizzard that frequents there. I had to distance myself from the research team because Hats

An Original Story By Me (Part 17)

Kyousuke told me that someone in Mihara uniform that looked like one of the Hisakawa twins was spotted at Katsura High School. That school is a typical normal school located at the bottom of the hill where the main entrance of Mihara Academy is located, and there's a train station located right in between these two. I don't know why Mamiko would go there, but I'm guessing that Katsura High is quite likely to be the school Mamiko attended before she came into this dimension. However, since that day, she seemed to have her mind focused on a particular someone who studies there. Mamiko had the look as if she knows something bad would happen to that other girl. Aiko: "Well, I can't blame her for being that way after finding out Kotomi would die in a collision with a train in the winter of next year, no matter what Mamiko does to prevent it." What did my classmate say to me? I don't even know who the person she is talking about either. Me: "Wait.

621st post: Perception of Windows 8 before RTM

Image
Windows 8 (Consumer Preview) start menu screen For those who have been follow me on twitter since at least for a few months, you would have saw me talking about Windows 8. More recently, I mentioned how frequent the blue screen of death (BSoD) appears on my Vista Laptop lately, and, indirectly, how long it takes to boot up with junk that has been accumulated over the years. To have a BSoD appearing this frequent on an OS newer than Windows 98/ME means that the problem is serious, but not helpful as to saying how to fix it. I really wanted to reinstall the OS, but no, the manufacturer did not provide the OS installation disc that lets me do that. I'm using this Win8 upgrade to let me do that. (I have another laptop with Win7, but let's not talk about that now.) Parent's Reaction Had multiboot on the WinXP PC with Win8 RC and set the latter as the default operating system. This PC itself was bought recently, as used, to replace an older PC that is no longer function

(Last modified: 4 August 2012) Me: "I just told you earlier that I am ranked higher than you, worked with the same company, and had been there before. Maybe it's because I am also your spouse, or a niece of the director, or a close friend of Saeko, that I could see it. Possibly a combination of factors too." I honestly did not know that I had just seen what only highly-ranked people could see. However, the video I just recorded proved that I can't prove or talk about it to anyone except those who already knew. Me: "Anyway, what was that you just did that normal people are not supposed to be able to see?" Itsuki: "To tell you the truth, nobody I know of could control that from happening. Even the high-ranking people of Mizuho are not excluded from feeling this too. Out of curiosity, what did you find yourself wearing while in there, or a general description at least? However I need you to be very specific with the colours." As my uniform

Losing Identity (Part 16)

The reunion of the Hisakawa twins was short-lived as their minds were swapped around again. Even they themselves were confused on who they were as both could remember events that either one had done before it happened. I don't know who's who, but seeing that both twins could communicate and are able to move, I'm guessing that the disabilities that Mamiko had has been cured now. Saeko: "We could control each other and know what the other is thinking now but..." Mamiko: "...why are we both still in separate bodies?! It's mentally exhausting and..." Saeko: "...confusing for me to control two different bodies at the same time! Am I Saeko or Mamiko? I have memories of both sides since I was cloned, but my body is missing the irremovable swimsuit, so that means I'm definitely Saeko. Am I?" Me: "Wow, that is confusing. Well, since you two have memories of each other and know which body you are in now, why not let the part of y

Alternate Dimension (Part 86)

I've been in this insanely cold snowstorm at the mountain range for quite some time, but my body never developed any health problems like hypothermia, or even a common cold. Hatsuya told me that my body could tolerate the extreme cold, but I never paid serious attention to the part where I could still the coldness of it. On top of that, since the ski resort has been closed with nothing else in the area, cellar coverage is very bad here. The terrain here is also bad for building roads. So, searching for an unknown object in a huge mountain range that is likely to be covered by snow is difficult. Perhaps impossible too. However, judging from what it does, there's a very high possibility that it could be that weird doll my home room teacher of Mihara Academy decades ago had shown. Still, the size of that is small enough to not be able to see it in this kind of place. Voice in my head: "Our sensors detected an object missing from one of our earlier experiments some distan

616th post: Watch that meter reading

Ever wonder why your electricity bill is high, but yet can't pint point to where the energy drainer appliance is at? Well, look at the meter reader for the electricity outside. Depending on the place, it may be inside a box or mounted on the wall next to the main entrance, and the meter itself might be grouped together with that for other units. For analog reader, look at the spinning disc below the counter and determine how long it takes to go around in a full circle (there's a black making to help you see), so the quicker it's spinning, the more electricity is consumed. For digital readers, that disc is not there, so you need a stopwatch to measure how long it takes for the counter to go up (which is time consuming) by one count. In both cases, a quicker time means more electricity is being used. With the above, first measure under normal usage. Then measure again after turning off appliances that are in standby mode or not in use, including radios and clocks that r

614th post: No longer mining bitcoins

I have mine Bitcoins before since at least 1 or 2 years ago in hopes to generate Bitcoins for myself and then convert them to real money. It started at US$1 per bitcoin, but, since I last checked, it's hovering at US$0.1 per bitcoin. During the time I used it, it was just solo mining. It was either be one among whoever else is mining at the same time to get 50 bitcoins per block solved. Problem with this? More people are jumping on the bitcoin mining bandwagon with PCs that are more powerful than mine, which translates to them having more chances of getting that 50 bitcoins. ( See how bitcoin works ) The configurations of this are quite similar to people who use powerful custom-made PCs that are usually seen only for being able to play the latest 3D-games in high resolution. What kind of games? The ones that has a PS3/Xbox360 version of the same game. Next, it was mining in a pool. Similar to solo mining, but that entity is represented by many other people mining under the same

613rd post: How important English is while travelling?

There are many languages spoken around the world. However, if you are travelling around the world,  English is the most language to learn if you avoid the situation of finding yourself unable to communicate with others, or, worse, face a dangerous situation, but you don't understand the important instructions that are being given. So, here are a list of languages that are spoken in random countries. Not saying the names, but you could probably tell from the languages spoken. (Note: This is not the list of official languages. More of languages visitors would come across there from the most frequent. If not listed, it may appear, but hardly come across any.) English, French English, French, Spanish Portuguese, Spanish Spanish German, French, Italian Hindi, English, Tamil Malay, Chinese, English Arabic, English English, Chinese, Malay, Tamil Korean, Chinese, English Chinese, English Chinese, Portuguese Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean Thai, English, Malay, Burmese

Disorientated Feelings (Part 49)

I don't like the idea of my son being sent to Mizuho because of its dark secrets it has that I know of. It being a subsidiary of the company I work for doesn't exactly ease my mind either. I searched for alternatives, but I am very concerned about how others would treat him because of his age. No luck so far. At least, not without waiting for my son to get older. Without an alternative besides my son remaining in primary school, he got enrolled into Mizuho. True enough, my 7-year-old son got transformed into a 15-year-old girl: anyone who is not between 15 and 30 would become of an age closer to the outer limits of the age group. Anyone who is 15 or older before wearing the uniform would have their biological age frozen to at the time they wear it, and resume from that point upon removing it (if they could that is). Which means if someone who is 16 years old wearing it for 3 years, and not wear it for an another year, that would make her biologically only 17 even though her a

612nd post: Custom Domain

I bought a custom domain in August last year for the main blog, which is takhsiru.net . However, while creating a new tumblr account today (4th July 2012) did I realize that I could use the characters that come before that for other places with just editing the DNS settings of that same domain. I have changed the domain for most of my blogs. Entering the older URL still works , but would be redirected to the new URL. The names of each blog affected listed below are in bold . 611st post: Unsaid Public Transport Benefits

Image
What you are likely to already know is that public transport is a cheap way of getting around, and even more practical for a built up area. However, it also has benefits that aren't mentioned directly. fewer fatal accidents from loss of control, drink driving, other road users trains don't need much space for high speed travel. don't need to waste time just to find parking. Depending on security systems in place and design, reduced likelihood of being robbed or hijacked while traveling. Especially when there are a lot of people around. Since you aren't using your ride, which itself can cost quite a lot, the loss is minimal. There are negative things too, but when you prioritize the environment, they don't seem that important.

Disorientated Feelings (Part 48)

The only school that is best suited for my son is Mizuho Academy: the school that seem to have some special magic to it. Saeko and my husband, who have both respectively studied and worked there for a number of years, claim that they have no role in it. It's more of based on the situation, my son's character and age, and so forth. Sadly, there's no other school that could accept both my son's feminine behavior, and prevention of being picked on because of his young age and quite a number of people whom I don't even know being able to recognize me on the streets because I hold a high-level position of Hatsuya, which many people are familiar with. Sending him to a normal school would mean that he could be an easy target to be bullied, or, worse, be kidnaped to force me as a highly ranked Hatsuya staff to do something undesirable. This would be a different story if my son could even defend himself. I have 3 daughters and a son, but with this, it's making my onl

609th post: When not to round off numbers

You come across a number that looks something like 27634279.3478295 and wonder how to round that off. Most people would just simply say 30 million or 25 million. Sometimes, however, knowing what the exact number can be important. Makes a difference when over/under estimation is involved, but when it comes to just talking to people about how big the number is, saying this can be quite a mouthful. Anyway, I'm here to talk about rounding off numbers that you would come across for money. Before I go on, note that some countries uses "." or a space to separate 3 digits of whole numbers, and "," for decimals. For countries like India , the first group contains 3 digits, but subsequent groups contain only 2 digits. Situations where you are more likely to come across more than 2 decimal places for money (or, depending on currency, trailing digits that are more than the lowest denomination) when calculating taxes or dealing with foreign currency. Here's an exa

608th post: Small Change in foreign Currency

Image
Having been to many different countries, I have accumulated quite a number of coins. As you probably know, the money changer do not carry coins besides that of the local currency. Sure I could create a collection out of these, but there are extras left over for it. How to deal with these? I don't know what is the smallest denomination the money changer would accept, but it's certainly banknotes instead of coins. I have received RM 1 notes, which are worth only US$0.31, and sometimes, the highest denominated notes of that currency aren't worth much, so exchanging a few pieces, and getting the equivalent in foreign currency back as thick stacks of notes. Well, if going to the country again, make sure to bring those coins along, and try to use as much of the smallest denomination as possible, or pay in a way that you don't get small denominations. Example: Paying the exact change (or as close as possible) with as many of the low-denominated coins as possible inste

606th post: Behind the scenes

Image
I've talked from time to time about my posts ( blog stories and anime posts especially) being late/early and such. However, with a lot of things to do, including doing household chores, it's hard to keep a schedule. Blog stories are supposed to be out once a week. But as time went past, they get unknowingly longer and longer (in terms of the number of words per part/post). On top of that I have a busier schedule and things that have higher priority that it's hard to maintain that. Eventually, that weekly thing became every fortnight Mondays, and now... well whenever I say it's ready. Sometimes, it just sits in my drafts for days and then publish it at a later date without any editing. Before you ask, it's not scheduled either. Also, I am writing only because I want to write what I want, but, unfortunately, I don't earn enough from those to make a living. (Not even enough to afford one subway train ride) Wasting my effort on something that doesn't r

Alternate Dimension (Part 85)

At work, Hitoko (the one whom I rescued a while back ) showed something that required my attention: there is something detected in the mountain ranges at the northern part of the country that is related to the phenomenon of people being turned young girls. Ironically, Hatsuya had also given me the same assignment at the same area with very vague detail and an almost immediate timing that implies that they knew that Powell had already told me. Hatsuya said that I could go there with what I'm wearing at that moment without the need for any additional clothing as my body can withstand extreme conditions that normal people can't, but added that the same doesn't apply to how I would feel about it. Obviously, I don't want to go a mountainous region wearing nothing but summer clothes. Plus, they could track my location and see what I'm seeing, which I can't disable it myself as it's part of my body. For the latter, it's deeply implemented into my eyes that th
