426th post: New blog layout & weird stuff noticed

Image
(written on 6 Sep 2009) The above is the screenshot shortly before I change to the current layout on 30 August. However, it's not as ready as I thought and need to do some small changes that can't be done in the Layout Draft s blog such as the contents of widgets that can't be copied as one large chunk of code. Problems I'm facing now is the header image, colour of the text over it, that weird border surrounding the top links and a redesign of the right navigation menu (that version is even older than my other blogs). ( link to post of above image ) Lately, Blogger seems to be acting up and doesn't render things properly. Also, embeeded videos (.ogg in the [video] tags, introduced as part of the HTML5 standards) seem to be rendered in a weird way. I'm supposed to be seeing this interface: I don't know what the problem is. I'll go check on other PCs and OSes. Using different browsers don't seem to solve the problem, but I noticed that I can save chan

Disorientated Feelings (Part 17)

Apart from doing some final preparations on the eve of the festival, a classmate of mine, who was the leading actress, fell ill. I called Saeko and Mamiko over so that I could program the latter of the two like a robot to perform the act. I was wondering around where they had went to until I reached class 2-6. Why is only half of that class used? Also, in the unused portion, why is Itsuki's table the only one that has not been moved? Me: "Hey, 2-6! Why are you not using the entire classroom when it's obviously crammed? And why are you guys not moving this table?" I walked towards Itsuki's table and placed my hand on it. I could see books with his name underneath. Hold on, why are those still there and the name not changed to Saeko? Itsuki is now Saeko in this dimention and technically has not and does not even study here. Student A: "Oh, it's Miyazawa-san from the student council! We were..." Student B: "Hey! Don't touch that table

402nd post: Increasing Reliance on Electricity

Image
(originally written on 20 June 2009) [ Note: I'm writing this because I feel like it, and not as a report for work/school or organizations. I apologize for any inaccuracies and discrimination that may happen.] With the average household having increasing number of devices using electricity, we have become more reliant on them. Sure there batteries that would make them portable and green solutions that emits less pollution to generate electricity, but should they fail, it can cause problems: especially in the times of emergency. The electricity bill (assuming that the rates are not changed) is a reflection of how much we use. Replacing energy-draining appliances with ones that saves electricity, but see no difference in the charges, this could mean that the rates has increased, someone's using your electricity, additional devices you might have bought might have offset the savings you could have had, or you were cheated. Speaking of using other people's electricity, you mig

The preparations are taking some time to be prepared for some reason. I don't know why, but the logistics does seem to be one of them. Also, the school does not want the festival to be held during or before my cousin's academy's festival to be held during or before my cousin's academy festival. They know that it's just a short distance away and by having it early means that fewer people would turn up. On top of that, my school could use this as an opportunity to relax and obtain ideas for the following year. My duty during the school festival is to help people who might require assistance and guide the guests around. I could tell that there will be a lot of people rushing around. During preparations, I decided to bring out the old computer that I had pushed aside for my (then) new notebook PC back in November last year. I just realized that I did not backup my files from there and need to transfer them over to the new computer. It's a good thing that the old

419th post - Plans to change username

Image
(written on 1 August 2009) I have been using the nicknames the1iam and asuna888 concurrently, but those seem quite old and in some ways unoriginal. The reason why I didn't change is that both are linked from number of sites too many to manage if I were to change: the1iam is used on a lot of my links and would be broken if I were to change it. asuna888 .blogspot.com appears to be linked from a lot of sites I have no control over and even appears near the top in search engine page results if people were to enter certain phrases. Also, I used that as my nick in a lot of places now. There are also other nicks like fnfd (shortened from f lyer n o f ools d ay ) and sobadeniyoukoso (a pun on the title of a Summer 2006 anime ), but I didn't like it and was either stuck with it or changed to something else. Oh, fnfd now seems to be used by a lot of people from financial/soccer organization to a fire department. Why do I even think of changing? Here's why (besides being old): th

Alternate Dimension (Part 30)

Throughout the day, I played the leading role for Kotomi's class of 2-1 several times to the visitors. I didn't pay any attention to what I was doing or what the play was about as my body moved by itself, just as I was "programmed" to do yesterday. Since I'm feeling bored being stuck here, so I'm going to take a look at what Saeko is up to now. ***** Ugh, Mamiko is reading my mind and is seeing what I'm seeing right now just because she's bored when acting in Kotomi's class. I can't stop her from doing that because, technically, the body I'm in now was originally hers, but she is now stuck with her clone's body. Still, it's giving me the creeps. How did I end up in this body, I don't know. I don't even know who I was prior to that. The only memories I have are what this body had, which are obviously not mine. (It's stranger that I am able to think of that.) I bet she's happy with that cloned body of hers since s

397th post: Unsure on continuing

Image
(written on 12 June 2009) I know I had just recently published " An Unexpected Wish (Part 3) " just last week, but I can't really think of anything to write for it. " The Story of a North High Student ", as you can tell, is not an original of mine, so I won't be continuing that. Part 15 of " An Original Story By Me " was written as the final (though I did feel that it is abrupt) as the timing seems to be the best to end at as finding out the truth and various events had already happened and can't really think of anything else. However, the storyline does coincide with the 2nd story ( Alternate Dimension) which itself is closely related to the 3rd story ( Tokihi ). Since I know how to write the 3rd story, that would continue on. I may write in a different perspective of any of my stories or expand/edit existing parts. " Alternate Dimension Part 1.1 " is one such example. Since the 3rd story is closely related to the 2nd story, I would

421st post: Addressing me

Image
(written on 2 August 2009) When people address me by my surname, I feel weird as even though my full name contains what they had called me, it feels as though they are calling someone else, especially when addressed formally. On a related note, the previous entry (419th post), I mentioned about changing my username. Well, that has now been just been reduced to coming up with a good name to replace the1iam due to confusion to how much "1", "l" and "I" look alike and with so many the ones around. Examples of names I have spent a lot of time thinking in the recent past include injuration .blogspot.com and nijitoki .blogspot.com . (Looks at post date) Oh wait, the 419th post is not scheduled to be published until 25 August 2009, 10 days after this post. In case you where wondering what the 420th post was, it's not scheduled to be out until 3 September 2009 with the title: " Disoriented Feelings (Part 17) ". I know the numbering is confusing, b

An Unexpected Wish (Part 3)

Since that day, Nanami has gotten over the grieving of her family. However, she still feels lonely in the large empty house. It's impossible to get around without being reminded of her family. Nanami has been living at this house since she was born. Her parents met each other somewhere in the capital, rent an apartment, and accumulate enough money to settle down into the current house. Since it was newly built when they bought it, the house is of the same age as Nanami herself. Until Nanami was 10 years old, she had never met her relatives before as they live quite far away. Most of her relatives, including her grandparents, live in Hyogo Prefecture. However there is a family she is related to in Nagano Prefecture, which is also close to the capital, but would take the whole day to get to. The odd thing about this particular family is that in the family tree, the father is at the same level as her, but is a lot older. He has a lot of children, of which, the third oldest child i

I have stuff lying around and I don't know what to do with them. a 1997 PC & 15" CRT monitor: Obviously considered "ancient" by today's standards. It's so slow that I can't play YouTube videos at normal quality without lagging. Let's not even talk about 720p videos. VHS tapes: They are seriously taking up a lot of space, but the contents are not important or have digital/DVD/BD versions. Old game console : GameCube, (1st Gen) Nintendo DS, Gameboy Advanced/SP/Color, PS2 and their accessories, games, cables, etc. I haven't touched any of them lately. Assignment books/papers from primary & secondary education and learning centres: Not only are they old, they contain written work I had done, but I don't even look at them now. They take up the same space (or more) than the VHS tapes. Should I keep them for future use or something my (future) children to look at? Empty shopping bags & boxes, used batteries, and 2008 calenders:

Disorientated Feelings (Part 15)

I woke up late the following day, so I was almost late when I arrived in school. However, I didn't see Itsuki today. Well, today is only a half day, being a Saturday, so it is possible that he either skipped classes, or headed home early. However, I didn't see him the following Monday, so is he really sick? I went to class 2-6, Itsuki's classroom. I asked everyone, including his best friend, Kenjiro Tanigawa, about his whereabouts. Student A: "Oh, Miyazawa-san! What are you doing here?" Me: "Do you guys happen to know what happened to Itsuki?" Student A: "Itsuki who?" What do you mean "who"? Me: "Itsuki Hisakawa! My boyfriend and your classmate! Ugh! Tanigawa-san, do you know where he is?" Kenjiro: "Who? Sorry, I there's nobody I know with that name." How can his own best friend not know who he is? I noticed that his desk is unoccupied and I pointed at it. Me: "Then who sits there?&

377th post: It's my birthday today...

Image
(written on 13 May 2009) Today, August 5 th , is my birthday. I turn 20 today. Apart from restrictions lifted from when I turned 18, another set of restrictions would be lifted. However, this would also mean that I would become an adult, though not officially until 2010. Being born in August, I spent more than half of the year in the previous age number (eg. 14 for most of 2004, even though I turn 15 that year). As I was born around 14:30 GMT, my birth date could have been on the 6 th if it were to be just a little later or in the GMT+10 and later timezones which covers most of the Oceania area. Not sure about Brisbane, which is in the GMT+9:30 zone.

Disorientated Feelings (Part 14)

Image
(continued from Part 13 ) After a long day of exploring the capital , we headed back home with my new computer. I can't wait to try out this new computer. I had also bought a new mobile phone as the previous one looked quite old with the bi-directional navigation buttons and the monochrome screen. I also like the clamp-shell design and that small screen on the outside so I can check who's calling without opening the phone. Also helps preventing pressing keys by mistake: my friends kept complaining to me that I had called them but didn't say anything even though I didn't, except that the call logs said that I did. What a nightmare. When reached home, the first thing I did was to put aside the old computer by disconnecting the wires and placed it on the floor. I notice that the area underneath where the old PC stood was dirty, so I had to clean that before placing the new one there. Since it's a mobile computer and not a desktop one, there are fewer wires to deal

(written on 11 June 2009) With my birthday less than a week away, I'm not sure if it is something to look forward to. Most of my peers are living better lives than I had and now they are in colleges I'm unable to get into. My parents are still pampering me to the point that I became matured and independent quite late and start to distrust them more. Why the hell did they teach me 2 useless languages since childhood that I don't practically use? Why did they made me do all that religious crap? I don't see the point and the reasons they give me doesn't make sense. Also, making me learn all the religious crap and those useless languages does more harm than good as it places a limit on what other useful things I could have learn and maybe master them better. Since I have never used them now and picked up a more useful language, I kinda have forgotten. On top of having my school in the past starting so bloody early, my parents turn on to some radio station that gives me

395th post: Time passes by

Image
(written on 11 June 2009) Look at how much time has passed: It's already the final week of July. When I'm just lying around at home doing my own things that are not physically or mentally demanding time sure seem to fly by quickly that I can't believe how long ago an even took place. I can't believe I actually spent a total of 10 months of practically not doing anything that involves studying or doing paid work: November 2006 to April 2007, and (late) March 2009 to (early) July 2009.

Just to let you know, this is not a scheduled post. I have delayed the next post by an another day so that I could squeeze this post in. I have just got back from somewhere where I can't mention, even when it's over, where I don't have access to the internet, let alone my files at home. However, this time back here is quite limited so I have to maximize it. I don't have the time to explain it now, but let's just say the time I have yet to catch up with is preventing me to put up anything worthwhile. I have also met a lot of new people too.

An Unexpected Wish (Part 2)

Nanami found herself to be at the amusement park she remembers going to when she was 4. She saw her parents and brother in the distance. They looked younger than the last she saw them. As Nanami missed her family a lot, she ran and called them. Nanami noticed that her body was that of a young child, so everything seemed large. She tried to walk the way she's used to, but wasn't able to and fell down as she tried to. She's puzzled as to what was going on: she remembers that she was at the pool in her high school not too long ago. As she struggled to get closer, she saw a rocket from the clear blue sky heading towards the amusement park. A large explosion from the roller coasters soon followed and the whole place became dark with fire and explosions everywhere. People were running and screaming and structures collapsing. The fire now separates Nanami from her family. Before the fire got bigger, her mother said that has continued on the Fujibayashi family and asks not to wo

384th post: My experience installing OSes

Image
(written on 19 May 2009) Until recently, I have been installing operating systems on various systems. This includes installing OSes via a virtual PC for many years now. I shall discuss on how I installed them and how it went. However, do note that I have never used any Mac OS operating systems long enough to know where everything is as the only time I get to use them is at an electronic store or when visiting a media/arts college before someone drags me away. Unless otherwise mentioned, formatting the drive is required and, in some cases, partitioning too. This means that all data previously on it would be erased. MS-DOS (virtual): Since the host machine has an actual floppy disk, I used that to start the installation. I don't know how different the version I used is compared to the one that came with Windows 95, but it did run games like Doom and Wolfenstein 3D fairly smoothly. Since I have already used MS-DOS (or Command Prompt) in latter versions, using it with only the keyboard

An Unexpected Wish (Part 1)

Heavy rain poured onto a building where the funeral of a couple and their son takes place. A young lady in a black dress was seen crying a lot in front of the portraits of the deceased. This is Nanami Fujibayashi (藤林 菜々実), their daughter, whose immediate family was killed by a robber. Relatives and friends of any members of the Fujibayashi family paid their last respects to them and offer support for the sole living person in the family. It's hard enough to have someone close to pass on, but a lot harder to have one's entire family to be killed because of someone else's greed. It was barely a week ago that she came home quite late because of club activities. Nanami was walking along the dimly lit road that leads to her house. As she reached home, she finds that the house is unusually dark and that the front gate and door were wide open. She called her parents to check if everyone had left in a hurry earlier in the afternoon. But when she called, she heard all of their mo

379th post:: Wonder what they are up to...

Image
(written on 13 May 2009) Being away from home, I wonder if the people at home are doing anything to my room. I don't mind if they clean it up, but not throw away my precious stuff. Also, I don't want them to go sneaking into my room to find something that would make me embarrassed. They normally don't as I'm always in my room and is hard get around but you never know. Sigh, I can't watch much of the new Spring anime or the new episodes of Haruhi. I'm also missing out on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. .. If only they didn't delay it from the originally planned December 2008 release... Oh well, there's always the DVD release or something.

378th post: How my posts are numbered.

Image
(written on 13 May 2009) You might have noticed I numbered my posts, except for my stories and some of the older posts. It's based on the post count of what I had done, including scheduled and drafts. It's because of of the later that you might see the numbers jump around. Oh, and in case you have forgotten, I had mentioned back in April that I am now off to somewhere and would not be able to to put up new posts. However, I have prepared posts that are scheduled for the next 2-3 months. Well, to tell if my posts are scheduled ahead, I might put up something like at the top of this post. Also, the time of the post would be at exactly 11:00 AM. Due to time constrains, lengthening list of what-I-should-be-doing- but-have-yet-to-do, (as at 13 May) I don't have much of my stories scheduled for the next 3 months. Also, until I have the time and get access, the links would not be available and would have to look through tags and archives after they are released.

414th post: Noodles

Image
Noodles are stiff and fragile when dry. But soft and springy when soaked in water for some time. It tastes plain, but flavoring can be added. However, that flavoring is not part of the noodle. It just sits on top of it or the soup it is soaked in. Chocolate marshmallow flavored noodle.... Purple noodles... When bringing them abound in its unused form, broken pieces are unavoidable. A cup of hot instant noodles is warm in the cold tempreatures. It's hard to tell when those 3 minutes are up. And I don't know why I'm talking about noodles. Or what's with the purple chocolate marshmallow part I mentioned earlier.

Alternate Dimension (Part 29)

Image
I had the sensation of my life I have never felt before last night. I was like, "Is this for real?" when it was going on, but I don't want to talk about it. Anyways, today is the cultural festival at Kotomi's school. I didn't know what to wear, so I just wore my uniform. Saeko, who has been hiding somewhere in the house since before I arrived home last night, only came out of hiding after Kenjiro and I left. Kotomi is already busy helping out people this early in the morning that she can't stop and talk to me. She did say that her siblings are around when she ran past me. Oh, Kotomi's siblings... I haven't seen them since I went to that country with Haruna and some of my current classmates not too long ago. It was such a large group that they probably didn't notice me there as though I was invisible. I did see Shin'ichi there, but he was too preoccupied with whatever he was doing. On top of that, they probably don't recognize me wit
